Enabling LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress

LiteSpeed Cache is a free caching plugin that significantly improves your WordPress site's loading speed. Since your hosting runs on a LiteSpeed server, you can take full advantage of its server-level caching.

Is Caching Already Enabled?

Basic server-level caching is enabled by default on your hosting account, so your site already benefits from LiteSpeed's performance improvements. However, installing the WordPress plugin gives you more control and unlocks additional optimization features for the best possible performance.

Installing the Plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New
  3. Search for LiteSpeed Cache
  4. Click Install Now on the LiteSpeed Cache plugin
  5. Click Activate once installation completes

Basic Configuration

After activation, go to LiteSpeed Cache > Cache in your dashboard. For most sites, enable these settings:

  • Enable Cache – Turn this on to activate page caching
  • Cache Logged-in Users – Leave off unless you have membership content
  • Cache Mobile – Enable if your theme serves the same content to mobile visitors

Click Save Changes when done.

Recommended Settings

Under LiteSpeed Cache > Cache > Browser, enable Browser Cache. This stores static files locally in visitors' browsers so repeat visits load faster.

Under LiteSpeed Cache > Page Optimization, consider enabling:

  • CSS Minify – Reduces CSS file sizes
  • JS Minify – Reduces JavaScript file sizes
  • Image Optimization – Compresses images (requires a free QUIC.cloud account)

Start with minification disabled and enable one at a time, checking your site after each change. Some themes or plugins don't work well with minified code.

Clearing the Cache

You'll need to clear the cache after making changes to your site like updating themes, editing CSS, or modifying content that isn't appearing correctly.

To clear the cache:

  1. Click the LiteSpeed Cache icon in the WordPress admin bar at the top of the screen
  2. Select Purge All

Troubleshooting

Site looks broken after enabling: Disable CSS and JS minification, then purge the cache. Re-enable them one at a time to identify which is causing the issue.

Changes not showing on the site: Purge the cache through the LiteSpeed Cache menu. Also clear your browser cache or view the site in a private/incognito window.

Plugin conflicts: Some caching or optimization plugins conflict with LiteSpeed Cache. Disable other caching plugins like W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, or Autoptimize when using LiteSpeed Cache.
